Evening in a Polish HouseOn Sunday November 26th Hope Hamilton Community Room was transformed into a Polish house! Jola and Lukasz had prepared wonderful Polish foods – little meat and fruit dumplings, potato cakes, and fruit drink. We saw stunning pictures of the Polish countryside. Some Polish friends joined us and helped us to pronounce some of thier language.
I was amazed to learn that Christmas in Poland is traditionally celebrated on 24th December with a menu of no less than 12 dishes.
Other Christmas traditions include putting straw under the table cloth as a reminder of the birth of Jesus in a stable.
