July 2004. One of the first things we wanted to do as a Church was to provide a resource for the local community. We produced a street map of Hamilton and have delivered a copy to each household. A local map is unavailable as yet.
We managed to get hold of a map from the City Council (unfortunately about a year out of date) and have translated the information from the building developers onto that map so that it is now up to date. A professional Graphic Designer worked on it and it has now been professionally printed.
The format of the map is an A3 piece of card triple-folded to make a booklet. On the front cover Discover Hamilton is printed over an aerial ‘photo of Hamilton. On the inside of the booklet the map is printed and has some advertising space around the edge of it. Useful information is printed on the back page, including bus timetable information, useful telephone numbers, local police contacts, Church information etc.
Maps have now been delivered to all residents in Hamilton and have been very positively received!
In addition to each household receiving a map a small number of copies have been given to each developer so that new residents may also have a copy.
Being a new housing estate, Hamilton, like many others, suffers from a lack of public facilities. We hope that this resource will be useful to the residents.
